Who's Dan?

Me pretending to be "reporting" at EAA's Airventure–one of the world's largest aviation events.
If you're ever in Oshkosh at the end of July–Go!

Seems ironic that a Web site dedicated to getting you to think about the reader would have a section about the writer. So this page will answer these questions (Is the guy who thinks he knows so much about writing full of crap? Or does he know what he’s doing?). You be the judge.

I’ve been an account manager, strategic planner, and writer in the advertising and marketing industry since cofounding an ad agency in college—that was 1986 if you’re keeping score at home. I’ve had the privilege of working at some great Midwestern ad agencies—including a firm that has one of the best creative reputations in the country. Since 2000, I’ve been on my own as a freelance writer. I’ve also been a writer, contributor, senior writer, and contributing editor for magazines in the financial and aviation fields. In addition, I’ve won two Best of Show awards for creative writing from the Insurance and Financial Communicators Association (IFCA). I’m also in the process of trying to get my first novel published.

I won’t bore you with samples of my work, that’s not why I created this site. If you want to see something I’ve done, and let me know what you have in mind. I’d be happy to send it.
